Thinking of Burgoo
One of these days, I am going to try my hand at making a burgoo. It's sort of the chowder without the seafood that smalltown residents of the Ohio Valley have enjoyed for many years.
I tasted burgoo for the first time several years ago at a Kentucky Derby party. It was excellent.
The people of Owensboro, Kentucky, take their burgoo very seriously, as this web page attests.
You should take an extra day to visit Owensboro when you're in KY for the wedding. I'm sure you could probably even swim in that large kettle of burgoo if you ask nicely! BTW, love the blog!

That's a great idea, and maybe I could try some of that BBQ mutton while I'm at it. Looking forward to that October weekend.
