This recipe for Apple-Pear Crisp sounds so good. It's from the website Delish.Delish has lots of other apple recipes, as well as some info on the best varieties of apples for baking. I usually prefer Granny Smith apples, followed by Fuji, Jonathan's (if you can find 'em) and Romes.
A lot of people think of Romes only as eating apples, but they have a spicy quality that I really like in a pie. But I would never use more than one or two of them in a pie. I'd stick mostly with Granny Smiths.
