It May Look Good . . .

. . . but it isn't. I completely agree with Kiplog's observation about the cinnamon rolls produced by the chain Cinnabon. They are to pastries what Tang was to orange juice.

Last November, Kiplog bought a cinnamon roll from one of the company's outlets at O'Hare Airport, and then he wrote about it:
Believe it or not, this was my first one. I couldn’t get through half of it. I think I figured out the recipe: Take 30 cinnamon scented car fresheners, boil them into a paste, add all of the strongest sweeteners known to man, form (it) into a spiral, and cover with weapons grade high fructose corn syrup icing.
There is a Cinnabon at National Airport, which is where I generally travel in and out of. A couple of times, while hurrying to catch a flight, I bought a bag of their cinnamon sticks. Even these are barely edible. It is amazing what people in the wealthiest country in the world will put inside their mouths.

The only good thing about that cinnabon- it was the only thing available for less than five bucks inside Ohare.

On my latest trip, I made the mistake of buying one of those packaged sandwiches from the Wolfgang Puck 'cafe', and for around 8 bucks I got something that wasn't much better than if it had been sitting in a vending machine for a year.

kiplog,

I completely agree with your take on Wolfgang Puck's packaged sandwiches -- pretty tasteless. Even the stuff they make fresh isn't much better. As busy an airport as O'Hare is, you'd think they could come up with better food choices than Corner Bakery, McDonald's and Chili's (with a trimmed-down menu).
